Binky Free!

Last Friday, Charlotte woke up with a bad rash around her mouth from sucking her binky so hard. I decided that was it, the binky had to go. That night, I bought some Oreo cookies and had her throw her binkies in the garbage can in return for the Oreos. A couple nights of whimpers and not so good naps, and we are BINKY FREE! Having her throw them away herself was the key, she never asked for it after that, just whined a little. I can't believe how easily she gave that up.
Sometimes I miss that innocent baby face with a binky, but I will get over it!

December 2009

12/22 - Santa! The line for Santa was crazy. Charlotte kept saying "Ho Ho" all through line. I kept thinking that she might be ok with him, but no such luck. It's a good thing we didn't pay for pictures.
12/23 - I got called from Charlotte's daycare because they thought she had the flu. Luckily she was just very tired and probably wanted to hang out with Mom. She passed out in the car and when she got up later that afternoon, she was just fine.
12/24 - Chrismas Eve - We went to my mom's for a great dinner and presents. Charlotte and Hudson had to take a bath before present time, of course.

Charlotte wanted to open all the presents and Hudson was not interested at all.

12/25 - By Christmas morning, Charlotte had lost her steam and had little interest in the presents, but loved her new ornament.

It's an Update!

Alright, it's a long one, so here goes....
Charlotte is so much fun. She has the sweetest faces and copies our expressions. I love that when we give her something she doesn't like or tell her to not do something, she gives us a perplexed expression, much like what we give her when we don't like what she's doing.
She gabs all day, definitely a happy talker. Her language is not entirely English, but she can say: shoes, meow (more like a squeak), hot dog, please (peee), thank you (tane-tu, and always with a bow of the head), “kuh” means – book, cup, car, cookie (kookee), Dada, eewwie (response to anything doing with diaper, stink, or poop), no, yah, grandpa (gra-ga), oh Cute (oo ute), pretty (pee-y), bow (oh), but still no Mama, or any word that has a M or B, they confuse her and come out in a form of G’s, E’s, and O’s.
I have school twice a week and Josh picks Charlotte up from daycare. She stands at the door and watches for him, saying “Dada”. I came home from school the other night and she was so excited to see me (usually she is asleep), she ran to me and gave me a big 2-minunte long hug. It made my whole week and I almost cried. On Wednesday nights, Josh has ceramics and doesn’t come home until late. When Charlotte and I get home from work, she walks in the door looking and calling for “Dada”. Too cute.
She loves her shopping cart and loads up every baby she can and pushes them around. Her favorite leisurely activity is reading. I wish I could get her on video reading a book. She goes through each page and alters her voice for the pages. Books, books, books, she loves books.
Charlotte loves to carry around bags and empty them, especially my purse and wallet. It’s always fun when you can’t find your debit card and then it appears in the cat food.
She has become so sweet and will sit on the couch with Josh and I for a few minutes. She is such a good girl. She is a total creature of habit and likes to wake up, eat, play, nap, and go to bed on her perfect schedule. She loves to look in the mirror, wear dresses, and loves when we tell her how pretty she looks. I have been trying to teach her how to twirl in a dress, which she thinks is fun. We bought a new summer dress at Walmart and she kept trying to put it on in the store, by holding it under her neck with her chin.
She loves to visit all the Grandparent’s. One night we went out to dinner and ran into my mom buying a gift certificate. As my mom left she started to cry, so she came to the table with us to calm her down. When my mom left, Charlotte bawled for several minutes. She was so upset that Grandma wasn’t going to stay. Last week we were eating dinner at Josh’s grandparent’s house. Charlotte was tired unusually early and started to get ornery. She wanted to go home so she brought Josh and I our shoes, tried to put on her coat and shoes and walked towards the door with her bag. Everyone got a good kick out of her.
I love to stare at her and request kisses and loves, which she gives freely.

Halloween

Charlotte was a little bumblebee for Halloween. She loved her costume and wanted to wear it all the time. When we took it off, she cried. How do you get pictures of little kids who won't hold still?
Eating Halloween cookies.

Charlotte is Too Cute!

I planned on just putting some Halloween pictures today, but I couldn't resist with all these.
Charlotte & Hudson at Max & Mel's Wedding

Charlotte LOVES noodles! Pretty curls fresh out of the bath.

Kisses!

Great Website: Engineer a Debt Free Life

This website is pretty cool and has lots of clever tricks:
http://www.engineeradebtfreelife.com/
The people that made the site follow Dave Ramsey's "Debt Snowball" plan. Aside from helping you find the best OldNavy Weekly coupons and telling you how to make your own handsoap, they also give you a great tip on getting FREE FREE FREE DIAPERS!!
Click on this link:
http://www.engineeradebtfreelife.com/2009/03/get-free-diapers-and-get-paid-10.html
This link gives you the numbers to call and the details of the diaper studys. I was skeptical, but I called and two days later they called me back. They explained how it worked and they had an opening for a size 4 girl so they sent me out 40 diapers and the questionaire. I thought that they would be all white diapers so that I wouldn't be biased, but one pack was Huggies Overnites and the other is Shopko brand, possibly.
Anyway, it really works. Plus after they call you and review the survey, they send you $10 for participating.
And if you have a potty trainer, it said that sometimes they offer pull-up type products.

Also, for great diaper savings, go to Shopko and sign up for a My Extra Savings card. They send you an extra coupon attached to your Shopko ad in the mail. I get approx one per month. The last one was for $10 off a $40 purchase. Then they had Luv's on sale for $15.99 for the mega packs. So I bought 2 packs of diapers and toilet paper for $30! It's a killer deal.

Charlotte is Big!

Charlotte is 14 months old!
Stats: 24.5 lbs, 31" tall, 12 teeth
Favorite Toys: Stuffed Animals, Books, Rocking Chair, Cars. She loves to carry stuffed animals under her arm, it's so cute.
Favorite Food: Fruit, Hot Dogs, Spaghetti (especially if she can slurp it), Chicken
Words: Dada, Mom, Hot Dog, What's That, Yes, No, Mmm, Cup, Done. She loves to blab and is always talking.
Mode of Transportation: Can walk but chooses not to. She is a great speed crawler.
What I Love: She loves to dance and has a contagious smile. While getting 4 molars in the past 2 months, I have realized that she is for sure a very chill baby. She has been so good with only a little moodiness. She loves daycare and recognizes we are there when we pull up in the morning. She loves to play with her friends and from what Betty tells me, she is even a better girl there.
What I Don't Love: She has started to become scared of things. She used to love the park, but now it scares her. She is also scared of most animals. I hope we aren't getting into a "girly-girly" phase. She has also started to throw tantrums when she doesn't get her way or when she is tired.

Catching Up

So much has been going on the past couple of months. Max got married, Josh has been very busy at work, I started back at school, and Charlotte is growing like a weed. I feel like when I sit down at the computer to blog, I spend at least an hour. Since most of my computer time is spent doing school work, blogging has taken a backseat.

We went boating for the 4th. It turned out to be a great day (after the flat tire and rain). Charlotte hated the water but loved being on the boat. We enjoyed watermelon and lots of sun.

We look Charlotte swimming with some friends at their pool. At first she was very nervous but then decided it was very relaxing. We will have to get to the pool more next summer, I am sure she will like it better.

Max & Mel had a wonderful wedding. I think that the ceremony was my favorite part. Scott did such an awesome job. Melany looked beautiful and Max had a "perma-grin" all day. I know that Max will take such great care of her and we all love Melany.

I started school again. I am taking 4 classes and still working fulltime. Josh has been so wonderful to take care of Charlotte and the house in the evenings. This Saturday, I was out all day and I came home to a spotless house! Josh even cleaned the floors and toilets!
